I.M. Skaugen SE (IMS) is a marine transportation service company engaged in the hassle-free transportation of petrochemical gases, chemicals, LPG and LNG, marine transfer of crude oil and LNG, as well as design and construction of smaller, specialized high quality vessels. Listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (ticker code IMSK).

IMS is a fully-integrated shipping company that designs, builds, owns, mans and manages its own ships. IMS customers are major international companies in the oil and petrochemical industry, whom it serves worldwide from locations in Bahrain, Freeport and Houston (USA), Oslo and Stavanger (Norway), Singapore, Sunderland (UK) and Shanghai, Taizhou, Zhangjiagang and Wuhan (China). We also operate recruitment and training programmes in St. Petersburg (Russia) and Wuhan (China) for the crewing of vessels.

I.M. Skaugen (IMS) entered the Chinese market in the early 90’s or 17 years ago. I.M. Skaugen China activities today encompass 10 companies, covering gas transportation business, ship new building business and investment in strategic growth business. These are owned/managed by Skaugen China Holding Company, which is a Shanghai based regional headquarter. See organization chart below.

SKAUGEN MARINE CONSTRUCTION (SMC) is an ECPS (Engineering, Construction, Procurement and Supervision) builder of highly specialized and advanced ships. It manages the newbuilding projects from inception of ship design to overall procurement, building and supervision. Since its establishment in 2006, SMC has completed and delivered six ship fully pressurized LPG carriers, combined gas and chemical carriers, the latest our small-scale LNG vessel – the Norgas Innovation – and more are underway. Both the latter two types of vessels are some of the most technologically advanced and complex vessels ever built in China. We manufacture components and systems for our own ship buildings in China through the joint venture company SHENGHUI GAS & CHEMICAL SYSTEMS (Zhangjiagang) CO. LTD (SGCS).

Established in 1996, Hubei Tian En Petroleum Gas Transportation Co. Ltd is the first joint venture that I.M. Skaugen invested in China, and it is the only Sinoforeign joint venture engaged in domestic petroleum gas river transportation along Yangtze River. Our company is engaged in the safe, reliable and cost efficient transportation of gas and related products in China.

TNGC now has 7 modern specialized vessels for petroleum gas transportation and has become the largest LPG transportation company in the Yangtze River.

Skaugen Marine Construction Co., Ltd.
(SMC) is a division within the I.M. Skaugen Group, and is a unique builder of highly specialized and advanced ships.
SMC utilizes the I.M. Skaugen Group’s inhouse competence, experience and network, and offers its services to companies within the Group as well as third party customers.

SMC manages the new building projects from inception of ship design to overall procurement, building and supervision. On a conceptual basis we work as EPCS contractor (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Supervision) with alliances for the construction of hull, for the construction of cargo plant and for outfitting and testing the vessel. A team of about 70 skillful staffs with a base in Shanghai and 3 site offices coordinates and manages the process with our sub-contractors and suppliers.
SMC has developed an unconventional setup for new-building projects.
